California-based Sempra Energy announces Houston Center of Excellence

After two decades of operations in Texas, Sempra Energy announced a new Houston-based Center of Excellence.

The Uptown Houston office will be the home for existing operations as well as a new interactive showcase of Sempra’s technologies. Part of the exhibits will show how Sempra’s work in Texas provides safe, consistent energy delivery.

The Governor of Texas, Greg Abbott stated, “Their new Houston office is a symbol of confidence in Texas’ energy leadership, workforce and regulatory climate. Houston is the world’s premier energy community and I welcome Sempra’s expansion in Texas.”

Additionally, Sempra has several important holdings in Texas, totaling to over $10 billion. The company’s interests include Sharyland Utilities and Oncor Electric Delivery Company as well as the development of Port Arthur LNG.

Sempra’s development of the Port Arthur LNG site will also provide jobs and economic growth for Texas. Manufacturing and small business growth are expected to stem from the project, all while harvesting 45 million tons per annum (MTPA) of clean energy.
