First LNG-Fueled Bulk Carrier Delivered

Ilshin Logistics announced their new LNG-fueled bulk carrier, the ‘Ilshin Green Iris’. This vessel is the first of its kind and was specifically built for Ilshin Logistics by Hyundai Mipo Dockyard as part of a 2016 objective to develop environmentally friendly carriers.

The Ilshin Green Iris uses a Type C LNG fuel tank. POSCO developed this 500m3, high-manganese austenitic steel tank to allow for storage of both liquefied gas and cryogenic LNG.

The MAN Diesel and Turbo’s ME-GI engine boasts marginal methane slippage, making it the leader in environmentally friendly two-stroke propulsion engines. This highly efficient, gas injection engine allows vessels to maintain stability during load and fuel changes while maintaining no fuel penalties. MAN Diesel and Turbo’s offering is unmatched in the market and leads the industry in environmentally friendly two-propulsion engines used on LNG carriers, container vessels and bulk carriers.
