KC LNG to build Scotland’s first LNG Bunkering Facility

Kosan Crisplant division KC LNG has received a contract from Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd. (CMAL) to design and install Scotland’s first LNG bunkering facilities at Uig and Ardrossan. The two facilities will be fully automated and remote-monitored and will come with the capacity to hold 150 cubic meters of LNG.

Under the contract, KC LNG will provide five years of maintenance with annual services, call-out support remote monitoring and diagnostics to track performance and operation of the facilities.

CalMac will operate the facilities on behalf of CMAL. Once completed, the facilities will provide LNG to two dual fuel ferries – the MV Glen Sannox and Hull 802, which are currently under construction.

Operations are expected to begin in 2022 as part of major upgrade works at the Uig and Ardrossan harbors.
