MAN Cryo to develop LNG terminal at Port of Oxelösund

MAN Energy Solutions will develop and build a multi-functional terminal for liquefied methane-based fuels in Sweden’s Port of Oxelösund. MAN Energy Solutions will act as “owner engineers” for the project, which was commissioned by OxGas, a company fully owned by the Port of Oxelösund.

The work will be performed under MAN Energy Solutions’ liquefied gas brand MAN Cryo.

The terminal will provide both LNG and green methane derived from bio gas to fuel SSAB’s steel production in Oxelösund, as well as re-distribute it to other parts of Sweden via train and trailers. The terminal will also be able to bunker LNG and other methane-based fuels to vessels in the port directly from the terminal.

“We have chosen to work with MAN Energy Solutions because of their experience, competence and pro-activeness in offering cryogenic and complex multifunctional energy solutions. After its construction in two years the terminal will be a key element in the development of the port, Oxelösund as city and the accessibility to liquefied methane in Sweden in the coming decades,” said Douglas Heilborn, CEO of OxGas & Port of Oxelösund.
