Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. Holds Naming Ceremony for Two Newbuilding LNG Carriers

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. held a naming ceremony for two newbuilding liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers at Tsu Shipyard of Japan Marine United Corporation on April 24.  The vessels are the 10th and 11th carriers that Tokyo LNG Tanker Co, Ltd. owns and manages and will transport LNG from the Cove Point LNG Project in the United States to Tokyo Gas Co, Ltd. Mitsui is involved in managing the ships as well as eight of the others.

Tokyo Gas President Takashi Uchida and his wife were both present for the ceremony, He named the vessels Energy Innovator and Energy Universe.

Both ships have a capacity of 165,000 cubic meters, a tri-fuel diesel electric propulsion system, and a top speed of 19.5 knots. Energy Innovator flys the flag of Japan and Energy Universe flys the flag of Panama.
