Shell’s Prelude FLNG makes first Shipment to Asia

The Prelude Floating Liquified Natural Gas (FLNG) facility sent its first shipment from its location off the coast of Western Australia to Asia. The Valencia Knutsen vessel delivered the liquified natural gas (LNG) shipment.

The Prelude FLNG is jointly owned by Shell, INPEX, KOGAS and OPIC and is operated by Shell.

Shell Australia’s Chairman, Zoe Yujnovich stated, “Prelude FLNG combines human endeavour and ingenuity from across the globe and here in Australia. We are proud to work with our local communities, suppliers and partners to ensure its safe, reliable operations into the future.”

The offshore facility is expected to produce 3.6 million tons per annum (MTPA) of LNG.
